The DIL Rules Book Signing Tonight at Barnes&Nobel

* * * Quote of the Week * * *

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most
certain way to succeed is always to try just one
more time. - Thomas Edison, 1847-1931, American
Inventor and Entrepreneur

I was able to successfully use the #1 secret to
getting PR this month – being timely– and got 2
bookings. First I was quoted in MomLogic.com
with this pitch:

Joe Biden's Mother-in-Law Dies
How to Make Peace
with Your Mother-in-Law, Before it's Too Late!

... and got booked on the nationally syndicated, The Daily
Buzz with this one:

October 26th is Mother-in-Law Day
How To Turn Your Mother-in-Law From Your Biggest Critic into
Your #1 Fan in 3 Simple Steps!

As well, another testament to having a book. I
was performing at a NY Women in Communications
event, when Roz Abrams, NBC TV, came over on the
break to compliment the band. We struck up a
conversation and of course, I had a copy of the
book with me. Roz asked me for my advice as to
how to best go about publishing a book, and gave
me a contact name of someone over at GMA to
pitch. Now that’s leverage!

* * * A Daughter-in-Law Rules Tip of the week * * *

Steer Clear of Religion and Politics When Dining
with your MIL

If she does happen to make a comment that you do
not agree with, do not respond. Just ask her to
pass the salad and then find out exactly how she
makes her dressing––was it two parts vinegar to
one part oil, or the other way around? And then
marvel at the fact that she never has need for a
measuring cup!

* * * A Special Announcement * * *

I will be doing a book signing at Barnes&Nobel
tomorrow night, at the Palisades Mall in West
Nyack, NY for any of you that want to come by and
say hello!

RHIANNA’S SONG lyrics and music
by Sally Shields ©2008 Safflower Music/BMI

When will I see you my little one
I hear your voice
and it is all I can do to imagine you,
and how you’ve grown
into a little girl
a precious little pearl

And with your smile you light my world
my tiny friend just hold my hand
and we will be together again!
Although you’ll be a bit older,
but that’s how it goes when you’re two!
‘Cause Rhianna, I miss you!

When I hold your hand, my little one
I’ll see you smile
and we’ll be laughing out loud in a little while
And then we’ll sing a happy little song
It won’t last very long

‘Cause soon you’ll be down off my knee
my tiny friend, you’ll wriggle free
to go and be with your animal
friends!
But I’ll enjoy every moment, ‘cause
soon you’ll no longer be three!
So Rhianna, oh won’t you wait for me?

(Instrumental interlude)

Refrain:

And with your smile, you light my world!
You’re out the door, and now you’re four
And I can’t wait to see you again!
And by the way, there’s a secret
that I have been saving for you:
it’s just: Rhianna, “I miss you!”
and “Rhianna, I love you!”

anyone interested in hearing an mp3 of this song,
just let me know!

The Daily Buzz!

* * * Quote of the Week * * *

The quality of a person's life is in direct
proportion to their commitment to excellence,
regardless of their chosen field of endeavor. -
Vince Lombardi, 1913-1970, American Football
Coach

* * * Sally Commentary * * *

Well, it’s a good thing I ordered Rena’s Book, The
Right Weigh last week – as I just got booked on
nationally syndiacated, “The Daily Buzz” to come
on the show and talk about how to turn your
biggest critic into your #1 fan for Mother-in-Law
day! Because those extra 8 pounds I lovingly aquired
by indulging in pasta and gelato in Rome a few
weeks back? I need to say, "Buh-bye" to them!
I started my exercise and diet program today.
Busted out the free weights and had my oatmeal and
egg whites for breakfast. Ugh... well, It’s a start!

* * * A Daughter-in-Law Rules Tip of the week * * *

As to be seen in ProjectHappilyEverAfter.com
( ... continued!)

Q: What is the philosophy behind the

Daughter-in-Law Rules?

A: The Daughter-in-Law Rules are many things, but
basically, it is a management strategy. The book
gives simple techniques that anyone can use and
get immediate results. It validates the Daughter
in Law’s feelings while making her Mother in Law
feel great. As you start to apply “calculatingly
affable defenses,” you will no longer be looking
for her approval. You will begin to co-exist. For
example, the top 7 Things to Do To Create a Happy
Relationship with Your Mother-in-Law include:

1) Don't expect her to share your interests (in
movies, music, books, TV shows, etc.)
2) Keep all gifts for at least 4 seasons

3) Try not to get defensive with your MIL (put that
stubborn nature aside!)

4) Never criticize her son to her

5) Allow her to take an active role as Grandma
6) Supply her with lots of pics of the grandkids

and ...
7) Steer clear of religion and politics at the dinner
table!

* * * Poem of the Week * * *

This Small Planet We Call Home

Out in nature at the beach
I come to learn, and not to teach
I feel a tear with every wave
and retreat into my crystal cave
A sanctuary to house my thoughts
and give me answers when I feel caught
in mortal confusion, a mere illusion
It reminds me of my divine fusion
I am a Goddess in embryo
growing so slowly, beginning to flow
I feel the seeds of divinity inside
I water them daily with nothing to hide
I’m beginning to shine with the eternal light
and the wings of my heart begin to take flight
At one with God at every turn
my channel is widening and open to learn
He is with me each moment I live
The law is in action – to receive and to give
It brings me in life all the things that I need:
a way to be healthy and happy, indeed!
