This is an exciting week, as The DIL Rules
garnered the attention of a real-live
distributor! Not that online distribution is
anything to sneeze at – I’m proud of the work
that has been done with self-publishing through
Outskirts Press, and I owe them a lot! After
all, they did come up with the “Pepto Bismol”
cover (as one naysayer so aptly described in her
review on Amazon.com). But hey, some people like
that bubble-gum flavoring! In fact, that is what
attracted this particular organization to the
book in the first place. But, thanks to all of
your support, The DIL Rules will shortly be in
Barnes & Noble and Borders books across the
country, helping to manifest my vision of
improving 20 million mothers and daughters in
law across the nation. And a big hug to my very
own MIL who has exhibited a tremendous amount of
graciousness and a whopping sense of humor
throughout this whole process. The DIL Rules
will also appear in the celebrity gifting basket
of Angelina Jolie this week, as well as in 100
goodie bags of a “high-impact wedding business
symposium.” Wow! I’ll have to look that one up
on Wikapedia! I just know that it means that a
few more wedding planners and photographers will
know about The DIL Rules in a couple of weeks. I
love to get the news out there! As well, please
check out the new and improved homepage at
www.TheDILRules.com. And please don’t be shy –
submit a story, win a book!

As to be seen in ProjectHappilyEverAfter.com

Q: When you are staying with your MIL, should you
be polite and do stereotypically female tasks
like offer to wash the dishes, even when your
husband normally does that sort of thing for you
at home?

A: Yes! When you are visiting your MIL, you
should be polite and do everything you can to
help her out, such as clearing the table, loading
the dishwasher, making the bed, and offering to
launder the sheets when you leave. It is also a
nice touch to strip the pillowcases and fold the
blankets neatly upon the bed upon departure. You
should also empty the facility in the guest
bathroom, and store all of your toiletries in
your suitcase or under the vanity while you are
staying there. These are things that you are
doing in a willing and proactive manner, not only
because it is the polite thing to do (and
presumed obvious) but it is also
self-preservation! You want to give your MIL as
little ammunition as possible to complain about
you - now and in the future.

IN LOVE WITH A DREAM
music and lyrics by Sally Shields
©2008 Safflower Music/BMI

Years have passed
But deep inside I’m still that little girl
who laughs
and clings to fairy wings and princess tales
alas
But I still need to know -
where do mermaids go?

And then I smile
The dance inside’s still swirling
It’s been a while
although my heart continues twirling
‘Cause I’m a queen
It’s how I feel inside
I’m on a magic carpet ride!
I think that I’m in love with a dream...

Today a lot has changed
and many friends have moved away
A decade full of memories in my heart will stay
But this you need to know
I still love you so!

And then I smile
The dance inside’s still swirling
It’s been a while
although my heart continues twirling
Be on my team
‘Cause I’m reaching for the stars
a wonderous world that can be ours!
I think that I’m in love with a dream...

Baby - come and take my hand
Together we’ll explore this magic land!

Refrain:

And then I smile
The dance inside’s still swirling
It’s been a while
although my heart continues twirling
‘Cause I’m a queen
It’s how I feel inside
I’m on a magic carpet ride!
I think that I’m in love with a dream...

And then I smile
The dance inside’s still swirling
It’s been a while
although my heart continues twirling
Be on my team
‘Cause I’m reaching for the stars
a wonderous world that can be ours!
I think that I’m in love with a dream...

Have a beautiful week, and don't forget to call
your mother-in-law, if only to ask how she is
feeling!!!
